Evolving Education
one small step at the time

LISTEN HERE

So where are the stories?

25/7/2016

Blah, blah, blah. I'm writing a book.
Yes I am. But you might be wondering where the actual stories are.

They are 'in production'.

In production, means the following.

  • I pick an event on a certain date (usually a real one)
  • I look for the Characters that are attracted to that event.
    I call them the Crowd.
  • I listen to the Crowd talking, to each other at first; then to me, with ever-louder voices.
  • When I think I clearly hear what they are saying, I write down their words.
    Their words, not mine.
  • Then I listen to how those words weave together into an argument or discussion.
  • I have an aim for the story, so I include that too.
I call that the Co-Activist Voice.
    It's me.
    It's other Co-Activists.
  • Then I hear how the Co-Activist interacts with the Crowd to form the dialogue.
  • And then, I write.

Easy huh?
Below is the current story. Perhaps you'd like to send me some suggestions?
At Secondary School

For the first three years at Secondary School all the students learn all the subjects offered. It’s all compulsory. At the end of the third year the students are required to make a choice. Some help is given. There’s a lot of influence from Parents and Friends. Teachers play a role too. The Media has a role to play too.

Situation “Choosing the subjects to focus on”

The Crowd
Their essential standpoints / perspectives / voices

"I want to be with my friends"
"I want to please my parents"
“I’m scared of getting this wrong - who do I turn to, who do I believe?”

Two Parents (age 30+)
“I got this choice wrong, I must warn my child”
“I got this choice right, I can advise my child”
“New times, new children, new choices”
"Learn well, earn well."
"Passion leads to purpose. The rest sorts itself out."
"Good idea to minimise weaknesses."

Several Teachers (age 30+)
“I got this choice wrong, I must warn the students”
“I got this choice right, I can advise students”
"Make sure you have the right subjects in case you change your mind later."
"Choose subjects so you get into a good college (university), the rest = a job, takes care of itself."
"Whatever you work at to earn money, you will have spare time to do your favourite things as a hobby"
"Do what you are already good at, and choose from the subjects that can lead to a good job."
"Create an income from what you enjoy doing."
"Solve a problem, make money."

Four Grandparents (age 50+)

“I got this choice right, I can advise my grandchild”

The Co-Active Voice
Fulfilment

“What voices are you listening to?” (Perspectives)
“What’s important to you, when making the choice?” (Values)
“How strongly do you believe the different voices you are listening to?” (Resonance)

etc

There are specific steps to this, which I aim to teach the reader,

    The Author

    I am a teacher, a business-owner, a public speaker, a coach and an author.

Yes I'm a bit of a politician and a preacher too!

My Mission is to play a major part in supporting the education system in taking its next evolutionary step, becoming self-evolving rather than self-preserving.
